The Foundation Fighting Blindness, held its 10th Annual St. Louis Dining in the Dark Visionary Awards Dinner at the Ritz Carlton in Clayton. Guests were encouraged to eat their main course while blindfolded to experience vision loss first hand. The evening’s proceeds support research into gene, stem cell and pharmaceutical based therapies for blinding retinal degenerative diseases, including macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa, which affect more than 10 million Americans. The Foundation presented its Visionary Award to Harrison Bader, St. Louis Cardinals Centerfielder and Paul DeJong, St. Louis Cardinals Shortstop, for their focus on the fight against blindness. John Mozeliak, St. Louis Cardinals President of Baseball Operations was recognized for his years of support to the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Dinner co-chairs were Emily Burch, R. Michael Lowenbaum, and Jason Morris. Dan McLaughlin served as Master of Ceremonies.
