The Marines had landed at St. Albans Country Club, but it was for a peaceful purpose, to raise money for the Semper Fi Fund. It was the 12th Annual Gen. James T. Conway Golf Outing held by the Missouri Friends of Injured Marines. An armament and a vehicle display staffed by active duty Marines greeted golfers at registration along with bags of swag, drinks and cigars. After a program where guests heard from Officers plus injured Marine Corporal Jimmy Gentile and his struggle through injury in Iraq and almost 40 surgeries. Guests then had lunch before hitting both courses of St. Albans. The Semper Fi Fund provides grants to injured Marines and their families that provide things such as hotel rooms for family members during a Marine’s treatment away from home, to adaptive technology, to a host of other types of support that greatly supplement the limited support injured marines receive.
