Members of the Visitation Academy Mothers’ Club gathered at the home of member Elyra Figueroa-Espana for their Christmas Open House Cocktail Party on Dec. 9. The home was well-decorated for the season, with live piano playing and a fire going in the fireplace. The party featured a lavish charcuterie spread from St. Louis Cheese Boards and vendors selling jewelry, clothing and holiday items. Proceeds from the evening benefited the Mighty Oakes Heart Foundation, which supports families of children born with congenital heart defects with financial, emotional and other needs.
“I grew up at Visitation and now my children go to Visitation, so it kinda comes full circle,” Figueroa-Espana says. “We chose Mighty Oakes [Heart Foundation] because one, the Ortyls (the family who established the foundation) are from Webster – we live in Webster – and then second, they are part of the Viz community.”
