In early March, guests at the VIP opening reception of Leon Bronstein’s exhibition, “Between the Fantastic and the Real,” previewed Bronstein’s collection of sculptures and drawings while talking to the artist about his work. On entering the gallery, guests were greeted by Bronstein, Richard and Kathie Winter, and Petruta Lipan, the executive director of the Saint Louis University Museum of Art. Bronstein addressed those in attendance, and after viewing both galleries, everyone was invited upstairs for a reception of cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres. The exhibition, presented by the Winter Family Collection, encompasses the past 40 years of Bronstein’s art. Although originally expected to run through May 31, the exhibition, like the museum, closed to all visitors on March 20 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
