Guests at the sixth annual Dignity Period gala, themed “Hats Off for Dignity,” enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, a raffle and an Ethiopian market at the Sheraton Westport Chalet Hotel St. Louis in Maryland Heights in March. Angie Wiseman, the organization’s executive director, welcomed guests, and Brett Walkow emceed. In opening remarks, co-founder Dr. Lewis Wall welcomed CNN’s 2019 Hero of the Year, Freweini Mebrahtu, along with Helen Wall, Zenawi Zerihun and Hayelum Hekonen, for an onstage panel to discuss ending the period poverty in Ethiopia, St. Louis and beyond.
“Dignity Period is honored to partner with Freweini Mebrahtu, CNN’s Hero of the Year in 2019 to reach nearly 350,000 students in Ethiopia with menstrual hygiene management kits and educational materials concerning the biology of adolescence," says L. Lewis Wall, M.D. "We are developing similar programs in St. Louis. We thank everyone for attending the gala and supporting dignity for girls.”
