Movie Review: Taken 2

101212-div-movietaken

First of all if you haven’t seen Taken, the first one, drop what you’re doing and rent it--it's the best action movie since Die Hard. That being said, of course, they were going to make a sequel. Why wouldn’t Liam Neeson want some beach-house money? Yes, it pales in comparison to the first one. Yes, it’s a tad dismissive. Yes, there’s a palpable sense that the actors are going through the motions, but yes, I loved every minute.

Our story begins as the bodies of the Albanian slave-traders that Brian Mills (Liam Neeson) killed rescuing his daughter are being transported for burial. Murad Krasniqi (Rade Serbedzija) vows revenge—forget that his son was in human trafficking, he’s going to make the man who killed him pay. And what comes next is 88 minutes of white-knuckle fun.

Car chases, check; explosions, check; hand-to-hand combat, check; cool bad-guy death, check. Plus, don’t forget, on top of it all, that Liam Neeson is a great actor. I liked every minute. Don’t expect Shindler’s List, expect Taken 2 and you won’t be disappointed.

It’s a 7.
