Matthew, a soon-to-be freshman at Valley Park H.S., turns to marquee players like the St. Louis Rams’ STEVEN JACKSON, basketball’s KEVIN DURANT and baseball’s CHIPPER JONES for positive character lessons. The young author has a July 19 book-signing scheduled at Lester’s Sports Bar & Grill in Ladue, from 4 to 7 p.m. When he’s not hobnobbing with the pros, Matthew volunteers as a math and reading tutor at Valley Park Elementary School. 22. article Prom: It’s a 2

    Thursday, May 5, 2011 12:00 am

Here’s an interesting thought: Let’s take every ‘80s teen-angst film ever made, cast look-alikes for ‘80s icons and shove it into a Love Actually multi-storyline format, and do it really, really badly. I mean really badly. Include lines of dialogue like, Justin may have bailed on me but I am not bailing on prom. I don’t really want to waste your—or my—time with this, but I feel an obligation to warn you.

  23. article Wheels

    Thursday, April 21, 2011 12:00 am

I really like the ‘back to the future’ trend in automotive styling that takes iconic models from yesteryear and freshens them to be relevant and cool in modern times. Such is the case with the new Dodge Challenger. Upon viewing it, my mind immediately went back to the ‘70s when my cousin had a lime green Challenger that was one of the coolest things on four wheels. Fast forward to today: Dodge has resurrected the Challenger name to create a modern car with the iconic styling of the original. When you put the old and new cars together, they really do look alike. Dodge’s Challenger is probably the truest to the original of any of the ‘retro’ cars. Thankfully so, because the original’s long hood, short deck design was the classic muscle car design.

  25. article David Meister Q&A

    Thursday, October 21, 2010 12:00 am

For more than a decade, David Meister’s elegant dresses and gowns have been flattering women’s figures. The Los Angeles-based designer has created red-carpet showstoppers for Tina Fey, Jennifer Hudson, Sharon Stone, Felicity Huffman, Fergie and scores of other celebrities. But he also designs sophisticated, figure-flattering clothes for the rest of us. His day and evening wear is available locally at Neiman Marcus, and he recently expanded his ready-to-wear line to include women’s sizes 14W to 24W (available online). He presented his latest collection last week at Neiman Marcus—and stayed around afterward to give fashion tips and dish about celebs.
