"You become the victim of identity theft just by living in the world," says Detective Andrew Soll, a certified fraud examiner with the Saint Louis County Police Department. "There are lots of things you can do to protect yourself. I shred all my statements and I'm really careful. But if Bank of America gets hacked--or the IRS gets hacked--then, your information is out.
