For the second year in a row, the St. Louis stop on the Cochon 555 Heritage Barbecue Contest tour will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis. The event on Sunday, Sept. 14, is from 4 to 8 p.m., and will feature five local chefs putting their skills to the test barbecuing whole pigs. A panel of 20 judges will weigh in to determine who gets the title of King or Queen of Barbecue. Participating chefs this year include the Four Season's own GIAN NICOLA COLUCCI; JENNY CLEVELAND and ERIC HEATH of Cleaveland Heath; PATRICK CONNOLLY of Basso; JOSH GALLIANO of The Libertine; and LOU ROOK of Annie Gunn's. There also will be a bevy of beers, bourbons, cheeses and other culinary delicacies to sample. General admission tickets are $100 (VIP tickets for early admission are $200). In our never-ending quest to give you the latest in skin care tips and treatments, LN recently caught up with Kathleen Fuller, spa director at the Four Seasons, St. Louis. Fuller took a circuitous route to her current profession, starting out as a store manager for Walmart before founding her own cosmetics studio, which she operated for 14 years. She then moved to the field of hotel spas, and joined the Four Seasons two years ago. Fuller says her highest goal is to provide a calm experience that promotes the wellness of their spa guests. It must be working: Four Seasons' spa was voted the Best Spa in this year’s LN Platinum List!

The opening cocktail reception will feature Cielo’s Four Roses Bourbon and a variety of local brews, and the dinner will incorporate plenty of fresh products from Jones Heritage and Such and Such Farm. It's been announced that Chef GIAN NICOLA COLUCCI has been tapped to replace Chef FABRIZIO SCHENARDI as executive chef at Cielo and the Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis. A native of Turin, Italy, Colucci most recently served as executive chef at Starwood Hotel & Resort Danieli in Venice. He's expected to take the reins later this month. Benvenuto, Signore!
