The Chamber Music Society of St. Louis has announced its star-studded 2015 benefit, Salut D’Amour—Celebrating with David and Miran Halen. The Tuesday, March 10, concert will be held in the acoustically perfect Sheldon Concert Hall.
Story: Francis “Confidential” Henshall is hungry for work, literally. The erstwhile skiffle musician can’t think of anything but food as he wanders the streets of Brighton, England in 1963. As fate would have it, he finds employment working for a two-bit gangster named Roscoe Crabbe, who was thought to be dead but apparently is not. Soon, Roscoe and Francis are strong-arming Charlie “The Duck” Clench, another small-time hood.
St. Louis Craft Spirits & Cocktail Week begins on Saturday, Sept. 13, with The Classic Cocktail Party in Lafayette Square Park from 6 to 9 p.m., featuring a variety of local spirits and cocktails. The week wraps up on Sunday, Sept. 21, with Punch in the Park, also in Lafayette Square Park, hosted by the St. Louis chapter of the United States Bartenders Guild. For the second year in a row, the St. Louis stop on the Cochon 555 Heritage Barbecue Contest tour will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis. The event on Sunday, Sept. 14, is from 4 to 8 p.m., and will feature five local chefs putting their skills to the test barbecuing whole pigs. A panel of 20 judges will weigh in to determine who gets the title of King or Queen of Barbecue. Participating chefs this year include the Four Season's own GIAN NICOLA COLUCCI; JENNY CLEVELAND and ERIC HEATH of Cleaveland Heath; PATRICK CONNOLLY of Basso; JOSH GALLIANO of The Libertine; and LOU ROOK of Annie Gunn's. In our never-ending quest to give you the latest in skin care tips and treatments, LN recently caught up with Kathleen Fuller, spa director at the Four Seasons, St. Louis. Fuller took a circuitous route to her current profession, starting out as a store manager for Walmart before founding her own cosmetics studio, which she operated for 14 years. She then moved to the field of hotel spas, and joined the Four Seasons two years ago. Fuller says her highest goal is to provide a calm experience that promotes the wellness of their spa guests. It must be working: Four Seasons' spa was voted the Best Spa in this year’s LN Platinum List!
