With just a single table on the sidewalk outside and subtle signage, it'd be easy to miss Gerard's, and you really don't want to do that because there's much goodness to be had inside the innocuous facade.
Having a child with a learning disability of any kind is a struggle. Between diagnosis, doctors appointments and treatments, school work can get lost in the shuffle. Fortunately, several area schools cater specifically to students with learning disabilities, which means youngsters can focus on their education and stay on track to success.

Make plans to join the folks at Truffles in Ladue this Thursday, Oct. 16, as they officially open the Butchery, its new meat market expansion adjacent to the restaurant. We're lucky here in St. Louis to have no shortage of good new restaurants. Many of these get a decent amount of press, especially when there are well-known folks involved. The Purple Martin is somewhat of an exception to this.
After 95 years in business, it's been announced that Yacovelli's Restaurant & Banquet Center in Florissant is closing at the end of the year. There will be a farewell party on Dec. 26 from 7 p.m. until midnight. Check out the restaurant's Facebook page for more info.

Sheriff Joe Sutter meets her and, though puzzled why anyone would want to settle in the depressed hamlet, arranges for her to work at the Spitfire Grill, the only restaurant in town.
Movies that revolve around food and cooking make me nervous. It’s almost as if the director thinks he can sacrifice a plot for a lingering shot of a bell pepper--or a magical moment of whisking an egg. And while food is an incredible thing to look at, assembling a salad does not a movie make. This film, I’m delighted to say, was more than a pleasant surprise. Yes, the food is mouth-watering, but the story is even better.

With all of the great pizza places around town, it takes a lot of confidence to open up yet another one. The folks at A Pizza Story have that confidence and it's definitely warranted.
I recently called around to a few local golf courses, and opened up the conversation by asking, “I’m looking to do a story on the oldest golfer in the area, do you have anybody who might qualify?” The responses were usually that they used to have a really old guy, but he passed away or just stopped playing because of his health. Then, at Westwood Country Club, the head professional, Daryl Hartig told me without hesitation, “Oh, do I have the right guy for you!”
There’s more to health than just the physical, a reality that the staff at Friendship Village sees every day. “We have a widow here who was very sick and lonely, and her daughter was thinking, I’m going to lose Mom,” recalls Friendship Village spokeswoman Joanna Jones-Raymond. “She moved her mom here from the Northeast; and now you’ll see her sitting on the couch talking with eight friends, and walking around the lake every day—she’s a different person. It’s not just physical. It’s the intellectual and spiritual fulfillment, all of it. You can see the difference.”

Even before you cross the restaurant's threshold, it's obvious you're in for a delicious experience. Adam's is one of the latest in the current boom of barbecue places cropping up around town.
The Central West End has no shortage of restaurants—so many that it's hard to keep up with all of them. One of the more recent entries on the scene is Thai 202. Located on Euclid Avenue between Lindell Boulevard and Maryland Avenue, it's easy to miss this eatery with all of the hustle and bustle in that area, but definitely well worth looking for.
