Recognition of stellar productions by nearly two dozen local theater companies will take center stage when the St. Louis Theater Circle presents its second annual awards ceremony honoring the best in local professional theater, on stage and behind the scenes, on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA), 524 Trinity Avenue in University City.
Nadoz Bakery & Café bowed its newest location at the Taubman Prestige Outlets in Chesterfield earlier this month. The new spot features specialty coffee and espresso, all-day breakfast, homemade soups and salads, sandwiches and desserts, along with a Burger Bar and the new Nadoz Squeeze Juice Bar, offering raw juice from fresh fruits and vegetables.

Chef John Perkins has been making waves in the St. Louis culinary scene for a while with his Entre Underground pop-up dinner events and his catering prowess. Then he took a space in the historic Gaslight Square and revamped it for private events and also used it as home base for a series of month-long specialty restaurant concepts he put together. Late last year, he decided to forgo the monthly experiments and use the space to house an ongoing restaurant based on one of them, a successful Southern-influenced event. He called the new eatery Juniper; and it's a cozy, comforting platform for Perkins' unique takes on down-home specialties.

Being located in the heart of the country and all, St. Louis isn't exactly known as a seafood mecca. But there are a handful of quality seafood places around town, and at the top of this list is Oceano Bistro in Clayton.
Of all the people who have ever played high school football in our area, I think what T. J. Moe did his senior year stacks up against anybody—anybody. Read closely: At Fort Zumwalt West in 2008, he scored 61 touchdowns. That is not a career, that is a single season. Only Roger Maris has had a more impressive 61. Moe threw for 2,557 yards, and he ran for 2,029 yards. Throw in a perfect grade point average and a pretty good basketball career, and you have a pretty nice high-school experience.

Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant will open its first-ever St. Louis location next month in Town & Country. The restaurant, in Town and Country Crossing, will feature award-winning wines in a Napa-style tasting-room setting, as well as contemporary American fare. Opening is set for Dec. 12.

Another production year in the fields is winding down at Claverach Farm, but there’s a lot to look forward to in 2014 and beyond. For many years, Claverach Farm has had a presence at area farmers markets and as a produce supplier to a few of St. Louis’ popular restaurants, including Sidney Street Cafe, Stellina, Oceano Bistro and Farmhaus, just to name a few. But in more recent years, operations on the Eureka farm have grown and expanded, with great promise for the future.
Once upon a time…there was a Rhodesian ridgeback/beagle mix puppy running the streets of East St. Louis. His life was changed one day in 2011, when Blues forward Alex Steen and a team of volunteers working with Stray Rescue of St. Louis found him and brought him back to the shelter. On the way, Steen stopped by his car dealer Bomarito Audi, where he introduced the pup to sales manager Joe Wolk.
