She’s classic, with a twist – and she has the closet the masses lust for. Instead of being limited to a small nook in a bedroom, Tania Beasley-Jolly, marketing director of Saks Fifth Avenue St. Louis, has the sales floor of a department store. It’s the perfect scenario for the local fashionista who describes her personal style as “Jackie O. in biker boots.”

When asked if she’s more of a shoe gal or a purse lover, Beasley-Jolly replies coyly with, “That’s like asking if I’m a diamonds or a pearls gal...but I’d have to say handbags. Fortunately, I can go and ‘play’ with both on the selling floor at Saks every day. My associates know if I say ‘uh-oh,’ it typically means that I have to have it!” She lists her Ann Demeulemeester riding boots as a can’t-live-without piece, noting she plans to be buried in them, along with red lips. Other must-haves include white pussybow blouses; designer trainers by Chanel or DIOR; red lipstick and nail polish (“á la Diana Vreeland”) and her 40th birthday present, a Hermes Birkin bag.

St. Louisans know Beasley-Jolly not just from the iconic store, but from society pages and fashion articles, both in St. Louis and around the country. For example, her work as a founding member of the Saint Louis Fashion Fund board of directors was noted just last month in the legendary Women’s Wear Daily. “It’s hard to believe that the Saint Louis Fashion Fund has only been around for a little over a year, but in that time they have showcased the talent of some of America’s best emerging designers, and this year will be no exception,” says Beasley-Jolly. “Overseeing the Caleres Emerging Designer award committee, it has always been my hope to also engage and support local talent and create an ecosystem that we can all benefit from – retailers, designers, manufacturers, etc.” The winner of this year’s $25,000 award will be announced Nov. 4 during Saint Louis Fashion Week.
