Stephanie Rose Nolan is the daughter of Steve and Joanne Nolan of St. Louis and the granddaughter of Dorothy Nolan of Pontiac, Ill. Andrew Robert Cummins is the son of Gwen and the late Robert Cummins of St. Louis and the grandson of Ralph Neiderhoffer of Waterloo, Ill. Their Story Stephanie Nolan and Andrew Cummins met while attending Saint Louis University and began dating their junior year. Even then, the couple had a knack for making each other feel at ease. “I immediately felt comfortable with him. I could be myself and we could talk about anything.” Stephanie recalls. Andrew echoes her sentiment, “I knew she was that ‘special one,’ because she can always make me smile!” It seemed natural that their romance would blossom. Stephanie arrived home from work one evening to find a table set with flowers, candles, her favorite sushi and wine. “He was dressed up and waiting for me by the front door,” she recalls. He popped the question as soon as she entered her apartment.
The couple was joined by family and friends on Sept.17, when they were married at Shrine of St. Joseph in a ceremony officiated by the Rev. Thomas Begley. The bride carried a brooch in her bouquet in memory of her deceased grandmother, and the couple lit a candle in memory of the groom’s father. The bride’s exuberance was memorable, recalls the groom. “She would not stop talking to me!” Even Stephanie admits it was hard to control her excitement. “I turned around during the ceremony when I was supposed to be facing the front and paying attention to ‘take in’ everyone who had come to the church to witness our vows,” she says. A reception followed at Meadowbrook Country Club, where guests celebrated with dinner and dancing, a candy buffet, signature drinks served through an ice sculpture luge (named the ‘The Pretty Pretty Princess Pink Drink,’ by the bride and her friends), and a late-night snack of sliders and sweet potato fries.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Hawaii, where they swam with sharks and visited family and friends stationed there by the military. Residing in Shrewsbury, Andrew works as director of special events for St. Louis Parking, and Stephanie is a therapist at Marygrove.
