SARAH DREW AND DAVID ROUSE MET AT SASHA’S WINE BAR in Clayton and soon after, shared a first date at a Radiohead concert. There, they ignored the show and talked nonstop, and it became obvious they were a match made in heaven. David popped the question at the couple’s condo by the fireplace with a bottle of wine. “It was very simple and sweet,” recalls Sarah.
The couple, joined by family and friends, was united in marriage on Oct. 15. In keeping with the tradition of Sarah’s grandmother, mother and sister’s wedding, the ceremony took place at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis. The groom’s most cherished memory? “It was my first glimpse of my future wife in her wedding dress, as they opened the doors at the end of the aisle.” The bride wore her mother’s wedding gown and veil. After the ceremony, the couple was met by a horse-drawn carriage. “I remember thinking about how lucky I was to have such a special day with my amazing husband, family and friends,” Sarah reflects.
A reception followed at the Racquet Club-Central West End where menu cards featured a sprig of fresh rosemary, and guests enjoyed a late-night snack of popcorn.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Tanzania, where they went to Tangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti Desert, and enjoyed seven days of safari followed by four days at a relaxing beach resort in Zanzibar. Sarah is the marketing manager at Kennelwood Pet Resorts and David works as corporate counsel at Graybar Electric Company. The couple resides in St. Louis.
