Their story… Living in New York City, Mary Clare Florentin and Sean Florentin met in January 2008 when they both attended a happy hour following mass at a local parish. While each hoped to make new friends, neither expected to meet their future spouse. “We ended up talking all night, and the rest is history,” recalls Mary Clare.

Sean proposed on April 23, 2010 in Central Park, and on their big day, the groom’s cake replicated the location and bench where Mary Clare said, “Yes!”

A winter wedding was planned to signify the sentiment of January—the month they first met and the wedding anniversary month of both Mary Clare’s parents and Seans’ maternal grandparents. The couple was joined by family and friends at Church of the Annunziata on a beautiful sunny day with just enough snow to bestow a winter feel.

The groom’s male family members entertained guests at the reception with a German dance performance, a reflection of their heritage. “Most of the guests were amazed,” Mary Clare says. “They had no idea about this special talent and tradition in Sean’s family. Everyone loved it!”

The newlyweds honeymooned at Rosewood, Little Dix Bay on the island of Virgin Gorda of the British Virgin Islands, where they relaxed and explored the pristine beaches. They reside in New York City, where Mary Clare works as a freelance art consultant and Sean works as a trade assistant at Oppenheimer Funds.
