Their story…Upscale retailer Nordstrom certainly is filled with dreamy merchandise, but when Allison and John-Michael began working there, they probably didn’t dream it would lead to marriage! When they met, John-Michael worked across the aisle from Allison—he in men’s furnishing, she in shoes. Allison remembers that “we would frequently meet in the middle aisle to talk and flirt! It was embarrassingly obvious that we had crushes on each other.”
Five years later, John-Michael took her to dinner at Tony’s. Since the two had discussed marriage, Allison suspected something was up. “We had a lovely dinner and were enjoying the atmosphere when a covered dessert platter was set in front of me,” she recalls. “But the funny thing was that I hadn’t ordered dessert.” When she lifted the cover, she discovered a jeweled frog with a sparkling ring inside. “John-Michael took my hands and said how much he loved me and that he wanted to spend his life with me,” she continues. “Everyone in the restaurant was so excited for us and wanted to see the ring!”
When the time came to choose a venue for the big day, the Studio Inn at St. Albans met all their requirements and more. “We wanted a beautiful garden party, simple but elegant,” she says. “The views and garden scenery were picturesque, and the brunch menu they provided was delicious.” And while their romance progressed, so did their careers. Allison is a department manager, women’s designer/St. John, and John-Michael is department manager, men’s sportswear. The newlyweds reside in Brentwood.
