David and Kathleen Broughton of Chesterfield are pleased to announce the engagement of their son, Chris Broughton, to Carolyn Gibbs, daughter of Thomas and Sheila Gibbs of River Forest, Ill.
The bride-to-be graduated from Fenwick High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and psychology, and a master’s in education from University of Notre Dame. She works as associate director of corporate and foundation relations for Big Shoulders Fund. Carolyn is the granddaughter of Mary Jane Gibbs, the late William Gibbs, and the late Edmund and Norberta Grant, all of Chicago.
The future groom graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory School and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and public policy, and a master’s degree in education from University of Notre Dame. He works as senior director of college initiatives for the Cristo Rey Network. Chris is the grandson of Pat and the late Jack Quinn of Glendale, and the late Melvin and Grace Broughton of Shelbina, Mo.
Carolyn and Chris celebrated their engagement at the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego. Following a June 16 wedding at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church in River Forest and a reception at the Union League Club of Chicago, the couple will reside in Chicago.
