    Congratulations to this year’s WOMEN OF ACHIEVEMENT honorees: JANIE BICKHAM (humanitarian concerns), CYNTHIA FROHLICHSTEIN (lifetime service), PATTY GREGORY (arts entrepreneur), JUDY HARRIS (creative philanthropy), DEBRA HOLLINGS WORTH (community betterment), KAREN KALISH (multi-cultural leadership), SANDRA MURDOCK (youth enrichment), CECILIA NADAL (cultural enrichment), VALERIE PATTON (women’s empowerment), and RITA SWIENER (spirit of giving). The ladies will be celebrated at a May 18 luncheon at The Ritz-Carlton. This is the 55th year the awards have been given, honoring women for their volunteer contributions to the community.

    A group of St. Louisans recently gathered at the exclusive Mar-a-lago Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., to hear Siteman Cancer Center director DR. TIMOTHY EBERLEIN share the latest in personalized cancer therapy. The Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation event was hosted by RICK and JUDY GLASSMAN and KEN and MARILYN STEINBACK. More than 70 guests were in attendance, including hospital prez RICH LIEKWEG, DR. WALTER and MARY BALLINGER, LEE and ANN LIBERMAN, VAN and MARION BLACK, MARGO GREEN and JEANNE PASS.

    Presenting: The Wrestler…John Burroughs sophomore CORY LESTER is the newly minted Missouri State Wrestling Champion in the Class 1, 112-pound division. Cory, who started wrestling at age 5, ended the year with a 44-2 record and won the title match last month in Columbia. Proud parents are KENNY and PAM LESTER of Ladue.

    Get ready for summer with Ladue News! Join us for ‘Elegant Entertaining Made Easy’ a symposium with LN design editor ALAN E. BRAINERD. The April 8 event, which begins at 10:30 a.m., will be held in the Gift Galleries at NEIMAN MARCUS. It will feature examples of tabletop design from china to linen to serving pieces, tasty samples from GOURMET TO GO, a Q & A session, and door prizes for a few lucky attendees!     The final SAINT LOUIS CLASSICAL GUITAR SOCIETY performance of the season features a homecoming recital of sorts for renowned guitarist DOUG NIEDT. Niedt, a graduate of Ladue H.S., began playing at age 7 under his father’s guidance. Since then, he’s studied at The Juilliard School and the Segovia Master Classes in Spain, and gained worldwide acclaim upon winning the Chet Atkins International Guitar Competition at the tender age of 17. Niedt, who hasn’t played here since December 2004, will perform March 27 at The Ethical Society in Ladue. His parents are DOUGLAS and SHIRLEY NIEDT of Creve Coeur.

    Ten local dancers are competing in the World Championship of Irish Dancing in Glasgow, Scotland, over Easter week. The team from Graham Academy of Irish Dance includes MERISSA BILLHARTZ, KERRY McGAU LEY, JACLYN ZIEGER, SEAN MARKOVITZ, PARKER CHARLES, BOBBY HOOCK, IAN RUST, ELLIE JOYCE, MICHAELA ROGAN and LEAH GANTZ. Accompanying them on the trip will be Graham Academy director KATHLEEN KELLY.
