Here’s a ‘happy’ thought…The 28th season of PARTIES IN THE PARK, one of the area’s original outdoor happy hour events, is coming soon! But there’s a big change this year: The event is moving out of Shaw Park onto the streets of downtown Clayton. The new setting on Meramec Avenue between Forsyth Boulevard and Maryland Avenue will include a live music stage, lounge furniture, drinks and food offerings from area restaurants. Parties in the Park begins May 11, and will be held every second Wednesday of the month through September.

The CHILDREN’S HEART FOUNDATION (CHF), the country’s leading organization committed solely to funding congenital heart defect research, now has a local chapter. CHF’s mission is to bring health, hope and happiness to children impacted by congenital heart defects, the No. 1 birth defect in the U.S. Since its founding in 1996, the foundation has funded 41 major research projects across the country and Canada, including studies at Saint Louis University and Washington University. The foundation’s Missouri Chapter, recently established in St. Louis, is holding two upcoming events: a March 12 trivia night at Central Reform Congre gation and an Aug. 28 walk at Creve Coeur Park. One of the organization’s founding board members is ROBERTA COHEN whose grandson, KILLIAN, was born with a severe congenital heart defect that required three open heart surgeries to repair. He’s due for another surgery sometime in the future to replace a valve, but his grandmother reports that Killian is active in sports and school, and is as darling as can be!

In celebration of its 25th season, CIRCUS FLORA has announced its brand new show, Vagabond Adven tures, set on the ‘Floating Palace,’ a real circus venue that traveled up and down the Mississippi River before the Civil War. Tickets go on sale March 16 for the season that runs June 2 to 26.

Other highlights of the trip (Aug. 16 to 20) include performances of Menotti’s The Last Savage and Vivaldi’s Griselda. For more info, call 963-4225.

Acclaimed Russian guitarist GRISHA GORYACHEV will be in town Feb. 26 for a Saint Louis Classical Guitar Society performance at The Ethical Society. Goryachev, a master of both flamenco and classical styles, debuted at the age of 9, when he started performing regularly before large audiences in St. Petersburg, Moscow and across the Soviet Union. Two local entrepreneurs are out with a Novel Idea, a creative way to personalize books for gift-giving. Busy moms DEBORAH PURICELLI and AMANDA ALTON came up with the concept while looking for ‘that perfect gift’ for friends and family. Novel Idea reclaims used books and re-covers them with memorable words printed on the binding, be it a favorite quotation, names or a date to mark a special occasion. For more information, call 562-3727 or email info@themilknhoney.com.
