St. Louis magician MICHAEL BARRON has some exciting things up his sleeve: He’s cleared the preliminary round of America’s Got Talent, and will perform live in front of celebrity judges HOWIE MANDEL, SHARON OSBOURNE and PIERS MORGAN. Taping began in Minne apolis last week, and if Barron makes it, he’ll advance to Las Vegas and then Hollywood. Barron, who started performing at 5 years old, is the International Brother hood of Magicians’ World Championship Winner, and has appeared on national and international television. Proud parents are BILL and DEBRA WILLIAMS, founders and co-owners of Lindstrom & McKenney.

We applaud BARNES-JEWISH HOSPITAL for ranking No. 1 in a new U.S. News & World Report list of the top 15 St. Louis area hospitals. Rounding out the top five are: Saint Louis Uni versity Hospital, Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Christian Hospital and SSM DePaul Health Center. According to U.S. News, the rankings were determined by a hospital’s number of nationally ranked specialties, and then by the number of other specialties in which it was among the top 25 percent nationally. The list ranks Barnes-Jewish as eighth best hospital in the nation.

Mom and me…LN’s annual Mother’s Day Look-Alike contest is on, and we’re looking for this year’s most striking resemblance. If you’ve ever been told that you’re your mother’s spitting image, or if you’ve ever been mistaken as sisters, this is the contest for you! The winning photo earns one lucky mom a full-service package from DOMINIC MICHAEL SALON, which includes a haircut, blow dry, manicure, pedicure, waxing and facial! Send us a photo of mother and child(ren), complete with names, phone number and the local community you live in by Monday, April 11. We’ll publish as many photos as space allows in our April 22 issue. All of them will appear on our website. Send photos to Mother’s Day Look-Alike, Attn: Meredith Bush, Ladue News, 8811 Ladue Road, Suite D, St. Louis, MO 63124 or email photos and information to mbush@laduenews.com.

Former JFK Secret Service agent GERALD BLAINE will be in town April 21 to discuss and sign copies of his new book, The Kennedy Detail: JFK’s Secret Service Agents Break Their Silence. Blaine will appear with former agent CLINT HILL, who was in the presidential motorcade during John F. Kennedy’s assassination and famously climbed onto the back of the car during the shooting. Hill wrote the forward to The Kennedy Detail. The book is being touted as the first time that members of the Kennedy Secret Service detail reveal the inside story of that fateful day in November 1963.

St. Patrick Center has a new leader: TOM ETLING is the organization’s new CEO effective April 11. Etling comes from Metro, where he served as marketing VP. He also has prior experience with St. Patrick Center as president of the development board. Etling replaces DAN BUCK, who left to become executive director of Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation.
