Professional eater and Travel Channel star ADAM RICHMAN is at it again. His new show, Best Sandwich in America, will feature local institution CROWN CANDY KITCHEN and its Heart Stopping BLT in a June 20 episode, pitting the bacon colossus against other famed sandwiches from the Midwest. Richman will be choosing his fave sandwich from each region in the country to faceoff in the ‘national championship.’
Kudos to ST. LOUIS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL, which made the U.S. News and World Report Honor Roll for the 10th consecutive year. The annual report looks at 10 specialties, including cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology and orthopedics. Eighty hospitals across the country ranked in one or more specialties, while St. Louis Children’s Hospital ranked in all 10.
The CLAYTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE is traveling to Istanbul, Turkey, and you’re invited to come along! The nine-day trip leaves Nov. 7 and the cost includes stays at four-star hotels, tours and some meals. Last year’s trip to China had 62 participants ranging in age from 18 to 83! Travelers need not be Chamber members or Clayton residents to participate. An orientation meeting to discuss costs and other topics regarding the trip will be held on Wednesday, June 20, at noon at the Center of Clayton (50 Gay Ave.).

CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY has announced the honorees for its signature fundraiser, Celebration of Hope: The Marsha Wolff and Tina Borchert Inspiration Award will be handed out to BILL and AMY KOMAN and to corporate honoree DANNY LUDEMAN (Wells Fargo Advisors) for their leadership roles in helping families affected by cancer. The Sept. 7 event at Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark is chaired by TOM and CAROL VOSS, with JOAN QUICKSILVER as vice-chair.
A traveling WORLD WAR I EXHIBITION is making its way to St. Louis next week to honor veterans and raise awareness. Developed in partnership with the National World War I Museum, the custom ‘big rig’ exhibit will stop at the Missouri History Museum on Tuesday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The free exhibit will feature 66 artifacts, including weapons, uniforms, posters and flags. The 75-city tour is being presented by Waddell & Reed to commemorate the firm’s 75th anniversary.
St. Louis’ own DIRECTIONS IN DESIGN has announced a partnership with renowned explorer JEAN-MICHEL COUSTEAU, who will serve as the firm’s exclusive consultant. This will allow the company to utilize Cousteau’s knowledge of marine environments and experience in marine conservation in an effort to strengthen the company’s marine interiors division.
