And the Tony goes to…St. Louis native NORBERT LEO BUTZ, whose performance as the FBI agent in Catch Me If You Can won him the award for Best Lead Actor Performance in a Musical. Butz is a Bishop DuBourg H.S. and Webster University theater alum. In 2005, Butz was the recipient of the Best Actor in a Musical Tony for his role in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He is married to actress MICHELLE FEDERER, his former costar in Wicked

If the shoe fits…Congratulations to DIANE SULLIVAN, Brown Shoe Company’s incoming president and CEO, who will be officially welcomed into her new role during a private reception at Hotel Ignacio June 27. Outgoing chief executive RON FROMM will remain chairman of the company’s board of directors.

We salute this year’s Energizer Keep Going Hall of Fame Inductee, St. Louis native KEVIN KLINE (nephew of the award-winning actor). An Oakville H.S. grad who currently works as a radio morning show host in Houston, Kline works tirelessly through his Snowdrop Foundation, which raises funds for pediatric cancer research and scholarships for college-bound Texas Children’s Cancer Center patients and survivors. Kline’s commitment to long-distance running (some 500 miles in 13 days!) helped raise awareness and funds for the Foundation. The induction ceremony was held at Energizer’s St. Louis headquarters and presided over by baseball great CAL RIPKEN JR.

Two of our town’s top young swimmers, TAYLOR MAURER and SARAH FINLAY, recently participated in the 2011 5K Open Water National Championships in Florida, an event that serves as the first selection meet for the Olympic trials for 2012. The top two finishers from the event advanced to the World Championships in Shanghai, China, later this summer. Taylor and Sarah finished 18th and 34th in the country, respectively. Taylor will be a Parkway West junior this fall and Sarah is entering the eighth grade at MICDS.

Our hats are off to four area students who were recently honored with The Hoenny Center’s 2011 Future Educator Awards. They are: Westminster alum MEREDITH DAVIS, Rosati-Kain grad JACQUELINE LULEY, Festus H.S. alum KAYLA REECE and Affton H.S. grad DANIEL HENKEY. Davis, Reece and Henkey currently attend Webster University; Luley is a student at Lindenwood.

New on the shelves…St. Louis author GERRY MANDEL is out with his first novel, Shadow and Substance: My Time with Charlie Chaplin. A self-proclaimed “Chaplin nut,” Mandel began to collect Chaplin items after falling in love with the actor’s films in the 1960s. Shadow and Substance is about an unknown writer who is hired to write a revealing documentary about Charlie Chaplin. Sound familiar?  LN
