It truly will be a Family Affair at the LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY’s 18th annual Man & Woman of the Year Grand Finale. The organization has announced that actress KATHY GARVER (who played ‘Cissy’ on Family Affair) will emcee the April 26 event at The Ritz-Carlton. The Man & Woman of the Year campaign is a 10-week fundraising competition to raise money for blood cancer research and patient services. Tickets will go on sale Feb. 16. For more information, visit

St. Louis Juvenile Court JUDGE JIMMIE EDWARDS continues to shine in the national spotlight. Last week, his Innovative Concept Academy was featured on NBC’s Today show as part of its ‘Getting to the Heart of Christmas’ series. During the segment, Walmart surprised the students with donated computers, school supplies and sports equipment. The academy, which was also featured in People magazine, was created by Edwards in 2009 as a ‘last chance’ school for students who had been kicked out of the public school system for behavioral problems.

MERCY HOSPITAL has unveiled its new Burn Center, which aims to provide patients with more comfort and privacy. The facility, located in the new patient tower, increases capacity from nine to 12 beds and features additional space to care for complex burn patients.
