Not finding exactly what you want to feather your nest? A new shop in O’Fallon, Mo., Modern Luxe, was recently launched by former LN production director Michele Treacy and her husband Marty. Filled with wonderful finds from lamps to lounges, it specializes in fun furnishings.

Anyone who was anyone went ‘Home’ to celebrate the New Year. Over the course of three days, local and national celebrities flocked to the new Home nightclub at Ameristar Casino in St. Charles. Seen on the scene: Wilmer Valderrama, Danny Masterson, Jaime Presley, Kim Kardashian, and Nikko and Ozzie Smith, who was there celebrating his birthday.

Welcome home to Adam Allington, who recently returned from being embedded with the 307th Psychological Operations Company from Jefferson Barracks in Iraq. Allington reported on KWMU on the St. Louis area men and women who are now on their third tour of duty. While there, Allington distributed more than 400 calling cards donated by the USO of Missouri Inc and the Joan and Vern Wendt family.

And you probably thought Nintendo Wii was only for the young…the hot, new game system is quite popular at Sunrise Assisted Living, where it is used in a new ‘Brain Fitness’ program meant to sharpen minds.

Budding journalists at Parkway West High School have once again earned the highest ranking, First Class, from the American Scholastic Press Association for the school’s yearbook.

Local celebrities will sing for their supper during the Celebrity Karaoke event to benefit The Adoption Exchange on Jan. 17 at Fifteen Restaurant & Lounge. Co-chairs Howard Balzer, John Sanders and Kevin Jackson will join other local celebrities, including Mickey Carroll, Jack Clark, Chris Duncan, Jim Edmonds, Georgia Frontiere and Jim Hanifan. Proceeds from the event, which will include live and silent auctions, plenty of food and drink, and karaoke performances, help children who have suffered abuse and neglect find ‘forever families.’ For more information, contact 291-3313.

Kudos to Karole Green, president of Lubin-Green Foundation, which recently presented the Jewish Federation with a sizable contribution to support Kaleidoscope: Israel @ 60, a year-long, community-wide celebration of Israel’s anniversary. This is the 13th year the Lubin-Green Foundation has provided funding for Israel Independence Day events.
