Celeb Nuptials…hometown girl Jenny Shore (Clayton class of 99) recently tied the knot with indie rocker Will Butler of the Montreal-based band Arcade Fire. The ceremony took place at Holmes Lounge, on the campus of Washington University, alma mater of Jenny’s parents, Dr. Bernard and Bea Shore. Jenny and Will met as undergrads at Northwestern University. The fun-filled reception was at Ninth Street Abbey, where guests danced to the zydeco strains of Gumbohead and were treated to an impromptu performance by Arcade Fire, whose 2007 CD, Neon Bible, has been nominated for a Grammy as Best Alternative Rock Album of the Year.

Bravo! The Saint Louis Symphony has named Dr. Fred Bronstein new executive director. Most recently president of Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Bronstein is hailed as both a talented musician and an adept administrator. During his five years in Dallas, he initiated a series of bold community collaborations and grew the orchestra’s endowment from $70 million to $120 million. SLSO, founded in 1880, has a reputation as a first-tier orchestra that has garnered international praise and presents more than 250 free education and community programs each year.

It’s never too early in the year for good deeds…Boutique Chartreuse in downtown Maplewood is hosting Swap ‘N’ Shop on Jan. 19. Anyone who brings in gently used career clothing, hung and pressed, will get a 20 percent discount on anything in the shop. The used clothing will be donated to Dress for Success, an initiative to help underserved women segue into meaningful jobs.

Whitfield coach Melanie Marcy has been named the new head coach of women’s basketball at the school. Marcy also coaches in the school’s volleyball and track programs.

Felicitations! Webster alum Jane Robert (69) has been awarded the French Legion of Honor. As president of Saint Louis-Lyon Sister Cities Inc., she has led several educational and cultural exchanges. She has also served as national president of the Federation of Alliances Francaises, USA for the past six years. Robert earned a master’s degree in French language and literature from Missouri University at Columbia and has taught French at the college level and at Parkway West. Her newest projects include ‘Waging Peace in Our Communities,’ a collaborative effort between St. Louis and its sister cities to share solutions on successfully integrating disadvantaged and immigrant populations, and founding a local Language Immersion School to open in 2009.
