Representatives from area businesses, hospitals, radio stations and television channels got an early visit from the LLS Bunny, as they assisted the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society prepare for its annual egg hunt. Children at the 4th Annual LLS Hunt for a Cure will search for 60,000 toy- and candy-filled eggs, all stuffed by area seniors. The hunt will be held April 12 at Queeny Park. The City of Creve Coeur named Susan Baseley as Citizen of the Year for 2013. Volunteering with the city for more than 13 years, Baseley is a member of the horticulture, environment and beautification committee and is the vice-chair of the Climate Action Task Force. With her help, the city created a successful community garden and received Green Power Community Status.

Families explored the wonders of the human body through song, dance and skits at ‘My Bodyworks!’ at the St. Louis Public Library Central branch. The concert, performed by Steven Schoenberg and Maya Sharpe, was preceded by a family fair with magician Jeff Lefton. LUME Institute’s Family Matters, University City Children’s Center, PNC Grow Up Great, Incite St. Louis, United Way and the Children’s Trust Fund hosted the event. Third- through sixth-grade students at Rossman School enjoyed a visit from Peter Lerangis, author of the New York Times bestselling series The 39 Clues. Lerangis, who has penned more than 160 books, shared stories about the joys and challenges of being an author, and inspired students to write their own stories.

The Barnes-Jewish Hospital Medical Staff Association awarded Dr. Anne Goldberg the Dr. Neville Grant Award for Clinical Excellence, honoring Goldberg’s compassionate clinical care, respect for colleagues and mentorship of house staff. Goldberg is an internationally known lipid researcher and pioneer in lipid-lowering treatments.

More than 400 guests supported Saint Louis Crisis Nursery’s Young Professionals Board at its annual fundraising and networking event, Napoli Night for the Crisis Nursery at Bar Napoli. The event raised more than $16,000 and 100 toys for children in need. Guests participated in a raffle and big ticket silent auction, and enjoyed Bar Napoli appetizers and Fish Eye Fun photos.
