When…Rae Cardwell organized a donation drive happy hour at Cardwell’s at the Plaza to benefit The Women’s Safe House?  Guests donated personal care products, school supplies, bedding, home furnishings and more to support women and children living at the domestic violence shelter. 

When…St. Louis Arc friends, supporters and volunteers got together for the fifth annual Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament? More than 160 players took part in the charitable fundraiser, which was emceed by KMOX talk show host Mark Reardon. The $30,000 in proceeds will go to support St. Louis Arc’s programs for people with developmental disabilities. When…GlaxoSmithKline employees came together to prepare the Patrick Henry Downtown Academy for the 2009-2010 school year? While the GlaxoSmithKline plant closed for the day, volunteers assembled backpacks, painted walls, landscaped and cleaned classrooms.

When…the ninth annual Kids and Clays Tournament raised more than $250,000 for the Ronald McDonald House? More than 450 guests enjoyed a dinner auction at the Scottrade Center, followed by a day of shooting at Nilo Farms in Alton, Ill. Pictured: Ronald McDonald, Brad Seabaugh and Kim Seabaugh.

When…the Woodrum family auctioned off Jim Woodrum’s 1982 Chevy El Camino and raised $5,000 at the Second Annual Jim Woodrum Memorial Championship?  The Championship was held at the I-55 Speedway and all proceeds went to Pony Bird, a nonprofit organization that provides residential, recreational, educational and adult day programming services to non-ambulatory individuals with physical and mental disabilities.  Pictured: Jim Tolsch and Michael Woodrum.

When…Christian Brothers College High School (CBC) raised more than $150,000 at its fifth annual Alumni Open Golf Tournament, presented by the Bommarito Automotive Group and GFI Digital Inc.? Money raised helps fund scholarships and financial aid programs at CBC. More than 300 golfers played in the tournament, held at the Whitmoor Country Club in Saint Charles and at the Missouri Bluffs.
