When…Clubhouse Shop and ‘Lady Jazz’ Mae Wheeler kicked off Fashion Week with ‘Jazzin’ On The Runway?’ The charity fashion show featured live jazz, tasty food and an auction. All proceeds benefit Independence Center, which helps adults with serious mental illnesses, and P.A.A.R. (Professional & Amateur Artists Recognized).

When…Patricia Mercurio, Missouri market president of Bank of America, visited the newborn intensive care unit at St. Louis Children’s Hospital? Mercurio, chair of the March of Dimes’ March for Babies, got a firsthand look at why thousands participate in the event. She met with Dr. Sessions Cole, March of Dimes prematurity chair and director of newborn medicine. The event is April 30, 2011.

When…Missouri Bluffs Golf Course played host to the 2010 Ken Boyer Memorial Golf Tournament? Honorary chairs were Hall of Famers Whitey Herzog and Red Schoendienst. Event leaders for the golf tournament were presenting sponsors Fred and Mary Kay Wiesehan and Dick Shaiper, who conducted the oral auction.

When…Community School, an independent elementary school in Ladue, held a drive to benefit KidSmart, a local nonprofit providing free school supplies to kids in need? More than 700 items were collected and donated.

When…More than 60 campers and staff visited Rocky Mount, Mo., in Lake of the Ozarks for the first Alumni Reunion Weekend at Camp Sabra? Alumni traveled from all over the country and guests included formers directors Mike Lainoff and Aubrey Herman. Alumni campers relived camp with waterskiing, sailing, ropes course, arts and crafts, a campfire and more.

When…Alderwoman Judy Pohl of Warson Woods performed the ribbon cutting at the new location of American Visions Contemporary Crafts at 9999 Manchester Road? She also read a proclamation from Gov. Jay Nixon, naming Oct. 1 to Oct. 10 American Craft Days in Missouri. Norma Van Gent, American Visions owner, initiated the petition to honor the heritage of Missouri’s craft artists.

When…Friends of the Saint Louis University Liver Center participated in the St. Louis Home Fires sixth annual BBQ Bash in Wildwood? The St. Louis Barbecue Society-sanctioned event was open to both amateurs and professionals and was held at Wildwood Towne Center. The Friends organization raised more than $3,000 from its three soda/water booths that volunteers ran during the event, along with raffle ticket sales assisted by St. Louis Rams Cheerleaders.

When…supporters of The Singer Institute’s Senior Connections program gathered at the Brentmoor for its fourth annual Wine & Cheese Social to celebrate founder Dr. Suzanne Singer’s 86th birthday and acknowledge the dedication of more than 100 volunteers? Guests enjoyed wine, hors d’oeuvres and jazz by Jeanne Trevor, along with a keynote address by Nancy Morrow-Howell, a professor at the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University.
