When…Kwame Building Group raised a record $130,000 at the seventh annual Kwame Foundation Golf Tournament at Norman K. Probstein Golf Course in Forest Park? More than 140 golfers participated in the event. The foundation endows scholarships and grants at colleges and universities across the country to improve educational opportunities for minorities. When…The Himalayan Family Healthcare Project (HFHP) hosted its first fundraiser, A Night in Nepal, at the home of Dr. Melissa Marshall and Erik Jacobs? The night featured Nepalese food and drink, dancing and an auction of imported crafts. The event was held to celebrate the completion of HFHP’s community health needs assessment and the purchase of land on which to build a hospital. The organization, founded by Dr. Devi States, who as a child lived on the streets of Kathmandu, seeks to improve the health of families in the area where he grew up.

When…The Charles L. Crane Agency Company commemorated its 125th anniversary with the unveiling of a large-scale, three-paneled pyrography and acrylic art piece? The art was created by St. Louis artist William Burton Jr. and unveiled during a private reception at 100 N. Broadway. It was dedicated by St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley; Jeff Rainford, Chief of Staff for Mayor Slay; and Mike Reedy, president of the Charles L. Crane Agency Company. When…Paraquad celebrated its 40th anniversary by establishing the Max and Colleen Starkloff Awards in honor of Paraquad’s founders? Bob Huskey commended the Starkloffs for their pioneering leadership in the disability movement, including their role in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. John Sondag presented a Starkloff Award to Bill Sheldon, a founding member of Paraquad, who developed its Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program. Another award was given to Bob Cox for support of the organization’s programs. The DisAbility Project, a theatrical ensemble, entertained guests as part of the evening’s theme ‘Celebrating the Power of the Human Spirit.’ Pictured: (the late) Max and Colleen Starkloff with Bea and Bob Huskey.
