Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis hosted its 5th Anniversary Gala at the Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis honoring homegrown artists Tom Friedman and Ernest Trova. Attendees enjoyed fine cuisine, delicious wines, and a benefit auction featuring works by Tom Friedman, Ernest Trova, Polly Apfelbaum, Maya Lin, and Alexander Ross raising significant funds for the museum’s exhibition and youth education programs including the award winning New Art in the Neighborhood and Contemporary ArtReach.
ABC’s Deborah Roberts returned to emcee the festivities and Aileen Agopian: Director of Contemporary Art, Phillips de Pury & Company served as guest auctioneer.
Honoree Ernest Trova was an internationally celebrated artist with permanent collections in some of the most significant museums worldwide. Trova also co-founded Laumeier Sculpture Park and donated more than 40 large-scale artworks to the grounds. Honoree Tom Friedman is a conceptual sculptor known for his work employing everyday materials in intricate geometric arrangements.
Meredith Holbrook and Jimmy Jamieson, Contemporary Board members, served as event co-chairs, and David Drier and Susan Sherman, Contemporary Board members, served as 5th Anniversary Season chairs.
The 5th Anniversary Gala was made possibly by Lashly & Baer, P.C, DHR International, Edward Jones, National City, and with in-kind support provided by St. Louis Magazine, Tiffany & Co., Glazer’s Midwest, Cellar Private Wine Storage, and Film Neshui, and Toky Branding and Design.
The Contemporary makes the arts available to wide and diverse audiences metro St. Louis by presenting the most relevant and experimental developments in contemporary art and forging successful community partnerships, education programs, and outreach initiatives.
