Carney's Kids Foundation benefited from a Spooktacular Night of 1,000 Laughs at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Clayton. Creatively costumed guests raised more than $50,000 to help support special needs children at Litzsinger School; Half the Sky Foundation for babies and children in China who wait to be adopted, and for those who will spend their childhoods in orphanages; The St. Louis Crisis Nursery; Delta Gamma Center, Rainbows for Kids, Ranken Jordan, and Special Needs Advocacy for Parents.
“We have no paid staff and we all volunteer our time,” said host and president John Carney, who co-chaired the festivities with Joanie Protzel, executive director. A 'Hats Off for Carney's Kids' tribute was paid to Kim Tucci for his generosity and service.
Comedians Tim Cavanaugh, Dale Jones, the Sklar Brothers and Eddie Brill kept the laughs coming as local restauranteers served their specialty dishes, silent and oral auctions offered holiday bargains and live music capped a perfect party.
