Laumeier Sculpture Park paired a dramatic moonlit evening with unconventional artistic expression at this year’s biennial cocktail party, Socially Incorrect: A Night of Contradictions with John Waters.
After Laumeier unveiled the unique fall exhibition, http://www.laumeiersculpturepark.org/Waters">http://www.laumeiersculpturepark.org/Waters, Artistically Incorrect: The Photographs and Sculpture of John Waters, to the public, VIP guests were whisked away to a hidden on-site location where they enjoyed falling down a rabbit hole of visual, musical, and savory delights. Guests mingled with legendary filmmaker, director, and artist, John Waters, while navigating this tented spectacle.
This fundraising event, limited to 250 guests, presented an opportunity to support both Laumeier Sculpture Park’s education and exhibition programs as well as the arts community of St. Louis as a whole. Serving as event co-chairs were Colleen and Rob Carlton, Dorte and Jim Probstein, Helene Sayad, and Julie and William Shearburn.
Laumeier Sculpture Park expands the context of contemporary sculpture beyond the traditional confines of a museum. It is Laumeier's mission to initiate a lifelong process of cultural awareness, to enrich lives, and to inspire creative thinking by engaging people in experiences of sculpture and nature simultaneously.
