The Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra’s (SLSO) new president and executive director, Fred Bronstein, welcomed 450 classical music lovers and supporters to A Symphony Prelude at The Ritz-Carlton, which raised a record-breaking $200,000 for the orchestra and its 250 education and community partnership programs. Bronstein thanked honorary chair JoAnn Taylor Kindle, co-chairs Dr. Tim and Kim Eberlein, and all who generously support the SLSO. He reported that the annual fund exceeded its goal, and an anonymous $5 million gift helped secure the orchestra’s stability.

SLSO music director and conductor David Robertson commended the volunteer program for serving as a model for other symphony organizations. “In the community outreach program, 30 percent of listeners hear the SLSO for free,” he said. “We’re getting the message out.”

Diners enjoyed musical interludes by concertmaster David Halen and members of the SLSO and met Erin Schreiber, violin soloist and the youngest assistant concertmaster in the nation.
