The Young Friends of the Saint Louis Art Museum welcomed artist Eva Lundsager to the Museum Friday, August 1, 2008 for a cocktail reception and presentation of “In a Broken Dream” (2007).

Modern and Contemporary Art Curator, Charlotte Eyerman presented Lundsager’s piece earlier in 2008, and it was voted on and chosen by the Young Friends to be added to the Museum’s collection. The Museum acquired Lundsager’s painting using proceeds from the Young Friends Art Purchase Fund. The painting is the sixth work of art the Young Friends have purchased for the Museum’s collection and is now on view in Gallery 339.

Lundsager’s exhibitions have been reviewed in The New York Times, Art in America, Artforum, and Art News. The St. Louis-based artist has also received numerous awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship. Lundsager is represented by Greenberg Van Doren Gallery, New York.

Created in 1994, the Young Friends of the Saint Louis Art Museum is a dynamic group of more than 400 men and women who are dedicated to a greater appreciation of art. Each year, the Young Friends hold a variety of activities including art lectures and discussions, exhibition previews, collection tours, receptions, parties, and other events that increase the awareness of art and culture in St. Louis.
