Guests and honorees more than tip-toed through the tulips at the 49th Fleur de Lis Charity Ball. It was late December, yet the St. Louis Ballroom at the Adam’s Mark Hotel was alive with fresh, springtime flowers in cheery colors to warm the chilly outdoor weather.

Thirty-one young women, most in their freshman year of college, were presented by their fathers to the Most Rev. Raymond L. Burke, Archbishop of St. Louis, who offered kind words to the assembled crowd following the presentation.

In keeping with tradition, the 2007 ball, chaired by Maggie Vatterott, benefited SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center. To date, the Fleur de Lis has contributed nearly $2.5 million to the center, which provides more than $5 million each year in free care to children from St. Louis and the surrounding area.
