A sea of red flooded The Ritz-Carlton ballroom as 530 guests enjoyed a heart-healthy Go Red for Women luncheon and program presented by the American Heart Association. Even though heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, it can be prevented. Go Red For Women is a national movement started in 2004 to empower and educate women to be proactive about their lifestyle choices. Proceeds from the event will go toward cardiovascular research and education for women in the St. Louis community.

KMOV anchor Vickie Newton served as emcee, and local survivors shared their stories of heart disease. Kathleen Passanisi, author of It’s Your Life, Choose Well, gave the keynote address about keeping a healthy heart through a balance of work, play and family.
