Q: Most famous resident?

A: There are so many, and most of them have stars along our Walk of Fame in the Loop. But off the top of my head, I’d say our most famous living resident is musician Jeremy Davenport; most famous deceased resident has to be playwright Tennessee Williams.

Q: Best way to spend a day?

A: People-watching. You can dine at a sidewalk cafe and take in the sheer volume and diversity of the St. Louis population. The Loop offers one of the best experiences in the region for diving into a vibrantly eclectic urban experience.

Q: Most fun nighttime activity?

A: Catching Chuck Berry live in the Duck Room in Blueberry Hill.

Q: Favorite community event?

A: The Loop Ice Carnival, held in January, appeals to the entire family.

Q: Most notable home?

A: That’s hard to narrow down. U. City is known for its architecture and landscaping. But the Rand mansion, at 7100 Delmar Blvd., is outstanding, a Georgian Revival structure with six massive Corinthian columns. It was built for Frank Rand, who was president and chairman of the board of International Shoe, which was then the world’s largest shoe manufacturer.

Q: Best traffic shortcut?

A: If you take Midland from Delmar to Maryland Heights for six miles, you’re at Creve Coeur Park!

Q: Best walking area?

A: Our pedestrian-level community design makes the entire city walkable. From most points in U.City, you can walk to dinner or jog 10 miles from your back door. The way it’s set up allows you to get to know your neighbors and form strong community links.

Q: Best Sunday brunch plans?

A: Where should I start? Try Brandt’s, Jilly’s Cupcake Bar or Booster’s.

Q: Favorite way to enjoy the outdoors?

A: Retreat from the urban buzz at Ruth Park Woods, a 26-acre natural woodland adjacent to the Ruth Park Golf Course.

Q: Best way to entertain the kids?

A: Craft Alliance and COCA offer a fantastic array of fun, challenging classes.
