Beyond the grand lobby with its rich woodwork and elegant finishes, there’s another element of The Ritz-Carlton that is immediately noticed: the service. While catering to every whim, the ladies and gentlemen of The Ritz quite efficiently turn a succinct stay into a truly memorable experience.
Situated in a setting offering both the advantages of residential neighborhoods, as well as urban amenities, The Ritz in Clayton provides a level of comfort felt on many levels. The soothing ambiance of our 18th-floor executive suite accommodations with access to the Club Lounge instantly relaxed us and set a tone for the rest of our stay.
Dining at The Ritz leaves little to be desired. Among the variety of choices on the premises, The Grill, with offerings beyond satisfying, was where we settled in for dinner. We started with a string of appetizers, including the Ahi Tuna, New Orleans BBQ Shrimp on a bed of stone-ground grits and asiago cheese and the Lemon Seared Scallops served with a cauliflower puree, and for main entrees, we both opted for turf selections—all thoroughly enjoyed! The Grand Marnier Soufflé with vanilla bean and Grand Marnier anglaise finished our dining experience on a delightfully unforgettable note.
Executive chef Mohammad Azhar grew up in Northern India, learning about cooking and fl avors fi rsthand from his mother. From the Caribbean to the Middle East to New Orleans, he has worked in the culinary field for more than 15 years.
Another special treasure at The Ritz is executive pastry chef Simone Faure, who is a New Orleans native and also trained with the celebrated Brennan family. Upon our return to the 18th floor one evening, we happened on a display of treats in the Club Lounge that would put Willie Wonka to shame!
While the state-of-the-art Fitness Center offered optimal equipment for a great workout, we found that the heated indoor lap pool and unwinding in the hydrotherapy pool met our needs. Before our stay ended, we visited the Fitness Center one more time for an 80-minute Aromatherapy Massage, which truly embodied our Ritz experience.
