For almost 15 years, the Chulicks have enjoyed the sense of community among their Kirkwood neighbors. The neighborhood’s charm, historical houses and friendly residents make them feel at home. Kim Chulick volunteers for local nonprofits, including Gateway Children’s Charity; while her husband, Tom, is chairman and CEO at UMB Bank; and son, 17-year-old T.J., attends Whitfield School. Their Boxer, Sophie, also is part of the family. Kim talked to us more about life in Kirkwood.

Where do you like to hang out in your neighborhood?

Café Provencal, Sapore Italian Café and One 19 North Tapas and Wine Bar are our three favorite restaurants. We also like to go to the farmers' market in the spring and summer, and run and bike in Kirkwood Park.

What’s your neighborhood’s best-kept secret?

There are so many shops, like Blush and Paperdolls, that are a little under the radar, but have cute women’s fashion.

Kirkwood is St. Louis’ original bedroom community known for its small-town feel and New England sensibility. The neighborhood offers gracious homes, a charming and active town center, a popular farmers' market, good schools, parks and residents with a lot of civic pride.
