Gina Bernstein says she dreamt of Clayton life while living in the Washington University dorms. Now, her family is living the dream—Gina, an investment banker with Stern Brothers & Co., and husband Michael, a Saint Louis University Hospital plastic and reconstructive surgeon, live in Clayton with their three children: Ethan and Sam, who attend Wydown Middle School; and Sage, who currently is at Glenridge Elementary. We spoke with Gina to find out more about why her family loves Clayton.

Where do you like to hang out?

I work in Clayton, so I eat there practically every day at places like Roxane and Coastal Bistro. We also enjoy Forest Park, and all the things it has to offer, like the Missouri History Museum and the Saint Louis Zoo.

What’s Clayton’s best-kept secret?

The appreciation for the parks and for art. The sculptures that are around town and adorn some of our parks truly make for a lovely place to live.

I always tell people that Clayton offers a wonderful combination of urban flair and a premiere residential neighborhood. It has a thriving business district, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and parks—and most are within walking distance.
