Local retirement communities are helping seniors stay active this summer through a slew of outdoor activities and event outings. Sound like fun? Many events are open to the public.

THE BRENTMOOR

THROUGH 10/6 BRENTMOOR SENIOR GOLF TEAM The team tees off Wednesday mornings at Ruth Park. The season, which opened in April, closes with a banquet on Oct. 6. Membership remains open to anyone 65 and up. The Brentmoor covers the cost for golf carts and Ruth Park discounts the greens fee. To participate, call John Bell at 995- 3811.

8/7 GOLDEN OLDIES LIVE GAME SHOW Big Papa G will host the Golden Oldies Live Game Show, which includes prizes for winners of contests modeled after Name That Tune, So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol. 2 p.m.

8/17 SNOW DAY Enjoy snow cones from St. Louis Snow Cone and guess how long it will take for the mountain of ice in the facility’s parking lot to melt. Special guest EMS workers will attend, and donations will be accepted for Cool Down St. Louis. 2-4 p.m.

8/21 BRENTMOOR COOKBOOK PREVIEW PARTY Recipes from The Brentmoor’s first-ever cookbook will be previewed. The cookbook features recipes from residents, friends and families.

8/30 MOB OUTING The MOB—Men of Brentmoor—will take their monthly outing. In August, they will travel to Cahokia Mounds and go out for lunch.

8/23 MISSOURI CAMEO CLUB Former Ms. Missouri ladies sing, dance and perform a variety show. 3 p.m.

8/11 SWING SHOW The Sisters of Swing will entertain during a cabaret-style event, complete with cocktail tables and dancing.
