When Stacey Stater and Mark Bierk decided to start a family, they wanted to find a bigger house on a bigger lot. Moving from Kirkwood, Stacey, associate general counsel for Monsanto, and her husband, the owner of Logo Masters, found their ideal home in Town & Country. Living within walking distance of Queeny Park, the couple spends plenty of time there with their children, Clay, 13, and Layne, 10, and their three dogs, Jake, Jed and Rocky. Their Mason Valley neighborhood is particularly close-knit, holding events like the annual Labor Day picnic and winter progressive dinner. Stacey took a few minutes to discuss more with LN why her family enjoys living in Town & Country.

What do you like best about living in Town & Country?

Our neighborhood is so friendly and I appreciate that our neighbors look out for my kids—it’s the whole ‘it takes a village’ concept. There is a lot of investment in updating and maintaining the homes in the area, as well.

The location of Town & Country also is great—you can get to downtown fairly easily to enjoy all that it has to offer, but there is plenty of green space and big lots. While there is not a ton commercial development, which contributes to the quality of life and open feel, we are close to places like Straub’s for groceries and Mike Duffy’s to gather with family and friends.

What is the best-kept secret in the area?

I would say it’s Longview Farm Park. It’s a neat park and they have events there like the Turkey Trot 5K after Thanksgiving, but then there’s the house on the property, as well. The city has invested in rehabbing and preserving the home on Longview Farm, and it’s a great place to host events like baby showers or meetings. It also is great to see the therapy horses in the park as you drive down Clayton Road.
