After having children, women often wish to bounce back to their pre-pregnancy bodies. St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery’s solution is the ‘mommy makeover.’
Local moms Michelle Autry and Rhonda Shrum say they love the results of their recent mommy makeovers, which often involve a body lift, tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast lift and augmentation.
While post-pregnancy is a common time for cosmetic procedures, others question the right age to have certain surgeries. With decades of expertise and cutting-edge technology, St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery can help patients with everything from finding the right type of procedure to choosing the proper age for an operation. “When it bothers you, it is time to get it taken care of,” says Dr. Bruce White.
Established almost 40 years ago, St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery offers a full range of cosmetic procedures, including facelifts, tummy tucks, body lifts, post-weight-loss skin-tightening, hair transplants and the two most commonly performed surgeries: breast augmentation and liposuction.
For patients considering cosmetic surgery, White recommends doing your homework. “The more knowledge the patient brings to the consultation, the better,” he notes. “They should know what they want, investigate the reputation of the plastic surgeon, and see two or three surgeons to get an idea of who they like working with.” For breast enhancements, White says patients should communicate what shape and size they want. At St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery, a new 3-D imaging machine can digitally show the patient and their doctor what different surgical outcomes will look like. Improved technology also has helped shorten the patient’s recovery time for breast procedures to four to seven days, while liposuction typically takes two to seven days of recuperation time.
White notes that liposuction is not a quick weight-loss remedy, but a contouring technique. Although, depending on your body type, some may appear to have lost 10 pounds when they actually dropped three, he says. Botox is another popular procedure. Since it is non-surgical, White says it can be quickly and easily completed during a break in a patient’s work day. While middle-aged women are common Botox patients, adults can opt for the procedure at any age, he adds.
Though cosmetic solutions can produce positive results, White notes that plastic surgery should not replace a healthy lifestyle, including a nutritious diet and regular exercise.
