With the stunning Powell Hall as our backdrop, these gowns will inspire you to get 'all decked out' for the holidays.
Soprano Miran Halen
Soprano Miran Halen continues to evolve her art. As a versatile singer of opera, symphony, chamber and recital music, Halen frequently performs for the St. Louis Symphony’s Parties of Note, and also has starred in Puccini’s Madame Butterfly with the Houston Opera. Also a passionate musical education advocate, she has performed during benefit concerts such as the 30th anniversary of St. Louis Children’s Choir.
Through the years, Halen says her performing abilities and voice have gradually matured. “I know what my strengths are, and to what repertoire I am more ideally suited. I also know my audiences well, and know what they like most.”
During performances with the Symphony, Halen enjoys sharing a deep musical connection with her husband, the orchestra’s concertmaster, David Halen. “I think it creates a deeper appreciation and understanding of each other,” she notes. “Our shared passion for great music has drawn us closer together.” Through the Symphony’s Parties of Note, Halen loves interacting with the orchestra’s devoted patrons in the intimate setting of local private homes. “It’s terrific how the Symphony is performing both on the magnificent stage at Powell Hall, and also out in our community, which is so very important.”
Shot on location at Powell Hall, home of the St. Louis Symphony since 1968. Located in Grand Center, and added to the National Historic Register of Historic Places in 2001, this former movie house and vaudeville hall is widely regarded as one of the most renowned and acoustically superior concert halls in the United States.
