U.S. Bank introduces the philosophy behind its community relations program this way: “All across U.S. Bancorp (the parent company for U.S. Bank), our employees and our company share a strong tradition of joining forces to build great places that we call home.” So it’s appropriate that U.S. Bank is sponsoring the Ladue News Show House—one of the finest homes in St. Louis.
“We support wonderful projects like the Ladue News Show House because the proceeds benefit the worthy efforts of five local charities. At the same time, the community has a unique opportunity to experience a mix of historical architecture and modern-day design by showcasing local design talent,” says Joseph Imbs III, U.S. Bank regional chairman and St. Louis market president.
Imbs, a lifelong Ladue resident, adds, “U.S. Bank and our employees are active supporters of dozens of local organizations that benefit the arts, education, civic, human services and environmental causes just to name a few. We’re excited to support the Show House in which U.S. Bank can support the St. Louis community.”
U.S. Bank has more than 100 branches throughout St. Louis, including full-service banks inside area Schnucks stores. It is the fifth largest commercial bank in the country and operates 3,086 banking offices in 25 states and 5,086 ATMs.
Beyond its financial services, U.S. Bancorp has a strong corporate citizenship program. In the company’s 2010 corporate citizenship report, Richard Davis, chairman, president and CEO, noted, “We are committed to supporting these communities through building stronger partnerships with nonprofit organizations, sharing the strength of our financial services through community development lending and investments and by providing leadership in the community through the generous dedication of time, service and talents of our U.S. Bancorp employees.” The company earned the 2011 Spirit of America Award, the highest honor bestowed by United Way.
The Ladue News Show House, at #15 Washington Terrace, was built in 1913 for Thomas May, director of the May Department Stores Co., which was headquartered in St. Louis until the company was purchased by Federated Department Stores in 2005. May-owned stores were subsequently consolidated and rebranded as Macy’s department stores, where thousands of transactions occur daily with U.S. Bank customers. According to a Nilson Report from February 2011, U.S. Bancorp is the nation’s seventh-largest issuer of credit cards, based on purchase volume.
In addition to personal banking and credit/debit card processing, U.S. Bank provides a comprehensive line of brokerage, insurance, investment, mortgage, trust and payment services products to consumers, businesses and institutions. In fact, someone strolling through the fabulous Show House may decide to buy the $825,000 property through a U.S. Bank mortgage.
