Baker has added new designs to its successful Thomas Pheasant collection. The 75-piece portfolio of casegoods, upholstery, lighting and tabletop pieces marks Pheasant’s 10th anniversary and fourth collection with Baker. The new designs reflect Pheasant’s mastery of understatement and his ability to blur the lines between classic form and the modern restraint of line. “My approach to design has always been to strip away unnecessary decoration and to design objects that are elegant, maintain value, are stimulating to the senses and visually beautiful,” Pheasant explains. “To me, there is great beauty in refined simplicity. This goes against the trend today, but it is this exploration of new ways of expression, using simplicity, bold silhouettes and clean finishes that look forward, not back, that excites me. I am motivated by the evolution of classical ideals. While travel and museums continue to offer me a treasure trove of stunning examples to incite my designer gene, I am not interested in reproducing the past.”
