Drawn by the beautiful old homes and an opportunity to try something different, Rob and Katie Holton moved to the Central West End four years ago. Katie is a stay-athome mom to the couple’s two children, Robert, 8, and Greta, 5, while Rob works in real estate development private equity fund management with Holton Capital.

LN: WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT LIVING IN THE CENTRAL WEST END?

Katie Holton: Down here, we get to enjoy a different lifestyle than we could in any other part of town. We can walk to so many great restaurants for dinner, or go to a movie at The Chase. Or, we can take our golf cart to The Muny and the Zoo—living right by Forest Park provides endless activities.

LN: WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE GATHERING SPOTS IN THE AREA?

KH: Our favorite spots are friends’ homes for dinner parties— these houses were built for entertaining. For restaurants, there are so many options. We love the back patio at Scape, Herbie’s, Sub Zero, The Scottish Arms and Brasserie.

LN: WHAT’S YOUR FAMILY’S FAVORITE NEIGHBORHOOD TRADITION?

KH: We love Halloween on our street. Trick-or-treating stops at around nine, and everyone meets in the center of the neighborhood for a bonfire and party.

The Central West End is a very sought-after neighborhood because it has a very urban feel with great walkability. There are gorgeous homes, eclectic, interesting people and consistent neighborhoods with Forest Park as your backyard!
