Mr. and Mrs. Jay and Maria Shields of Frontenac are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter, Marguerite Grace, to Mark Lorin (Ren), son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark and Julie Mullinix of Richmond, Virginia. Grandparents Mr. and the late Mrs. John and Claire Shields of Ladue and Mr. and Mrs. Pete and Nancy Piccione of University City join in celebrating the happy news.

The bride-to-be graduated in 2007 from Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas (KU). She works as a stylist for Trunk Club in Chicago.

The future groom graduated in 2006 from Claremont High School in California and earned his bachelor’s degree from KU. He is a managing consultant at Navigant in the health care strategy practice.

The couple first met at KU, kindling a romance in 2009 at the St. Louis Mardi Gras parade in Soulard. When they both found themselves at the Great Grizzly Bear Bar, Ren asked for Marguerite’s phone number. They returned seven years later to the bar, and Ren took a knee (in a puddle of water) to ask for Marguerite’s hand in marriage. The couple plans to wed on June 10 next year at Our Lady of Lourdes, with a reception to follow at St. Louis Country Club. After honeymooning in Italy along the Amalfi Coast, they will reside in Chicago.
