Designer Jane Ganz went well beyond the basics to create this stunning powder room, which she filled with platinum, silver and crystal accents. Like the inside of a beautiful jewel box, the small room literally shimmers in the light. “Powder rooms are very important because they’re not only part of the family’s living space, but they also are used by all their guests,” Ganz observes.
The starting point in the design process was the client’s existing faux-bronze vanity and the faux-finished silver-leaf mirror. Ganz added the dramatic black-vessel sink with embedded silver mica chips, which sits on a black-granite vanity top. On the walls, she installed a three-dimensional wallcovering with a pearlized-platinum finish, which is brought to life by the three gorgeous crystal pendants that hang from the ceiling on a curved track.
“There are many things I love about this powder room, but especially the elegant crystal pendants that hang from a curved track, creating interest on the ceiling as well as at eye level,” Ganz says.

Beautiful lighting and warm finishes in rich shades of brown, paired with pewter, silver and aged-mirror accents, create a tranquil and elegant ambience in this transitional-style powder room, which was specifically designed with guests in mind. A separate commode area with door provides privacy.
“The vanity features a mellow brown stain and glazed-granite countertop,” explains designer Kris Keller, who employed subtle shape repetition for a great effect. “The metallic pewter geometric design on the cocoa-colored wallcovering is repeated in the wall sconce back plates and also on the door pulls. The sconces create great mood lighting and are very urban and upscale, yet also fun and unusual. The aged mirror is a custom piece by the Design Source.”
Keller’s overriding objective for this small powder room was the same as it is for every project she designs. “Our single intention is that our clients awaken every single day and fall in love with their home over and over again.”
