“Our goal is to inspire and create beauty in all we do,” says designer Jim Graeler. “This patio and kitchen area was designed to do just that—the feeling of peace and calm comes from all the natural elements that are part of the design.”
Graeler selected tumbled Earthworks gold stone for the fireplace and fire pit, which works well with the Aux Vases tumbled stone in the kitchen space and on the pizza oven. The kitchen countertop and bar surface are honed EW gold stone, which has been sandblasted to give it a weathered look. Tying it all together are the cedar beams of the pergola overhead and the tumbled colonial paver flooring.
“The outdoor living area would not be complete if not for the beauty and softness of the trees, shrubs and flowers,” Graeler says. “The plantings were selected to impart a more intimate feel to the space, to soften the stone, and to add another element of color and texture. All of these materials combine to create a space that is truly inviting and inspiring and most assuredly a celebration of His beauty.”

Graced with a beautiful view of the intercoastal waterway, this spacious outdoor room is part of a large home in Naples, Fla. “Being a vacation home, I wanted the space to be able to accommodate two or 20 guests,” says designer Pamela Calvert. “I created several intimate conversation areas, as well as large spaces for entertaining.”
Seating includes two comfortable chairs with ottomans that face the water; an oversized sectional with an ice storage area in the attached consoles; and a table and chairs, which can be pressed into service for informal family meals or as a place to play cards.
The resort waterfront location also dictated the color palette and fabric selection. “The navy blue and cream fabric is a very user-friendly outdoor fabric and parallels the sand and water, while the lime green adds a vibrant punch of color,” Calvert explains. “I went for a relaxed but refined setting, offering total comfort, whether you’re playing cards, lying in the sun, reading a book or watching the dolphins.”
